Criteri per il recupero e la valorizzazione di spazi cimiteriali dismessi: il cimitero di Forza d'Agrò

The present study is aimed to define a strategy for the sustainable development of the land of Forza d’Agrò (ME). This in order to single out the actions able to integrate the natural and built present resources. The simultaneous presence of a disused historic centre, the medieval castle reused as cemetery and the landscape values supports the transformation of the site and its integration with the main Sicilian tourist routes.The research is intended to pursue new tools for the management and reuse of the cemetery, able to prime a process of conservation and exploitation for the holy site and a process of sustainable development for the land. The topic peculiarity required a detailed analysis of compatibility to reuse, in order to choose new activities able to allow conservation, recovery, and management of the site, to give it new values related to the use and to stop the degradation evolution due to the poor relationship between the living community and the cult of the dead.
