In Sicily, in the last century, the economic and social evolution produced the disuse of many farms. Today, it is necessary to choose new compatible uses for these buildings, in order to guarantee the conservation of the country building heritage, that represents the constructive culture and the tradition of the local community. The “Masseria Maucini” is the case-study selected; the building is located in a strategic site of the eastern Sicily and represents an extended property. The construction characteristics of the building have been surveyed, analysed and classified in order to make up an informative system aimed to verify the compatibility to re-use.The purposed method relates building information surveyed and requirement of the new function, both in the program step, choosing new function, and in the design step, verifying detail of the assumed constructive solution.
