This analysis focuses on some thorny issues, particular points and questions regarding the complex subject of separated children. Their situation has recently been summarized by the expression “children in transition” (Caritas, 2012: 167) because of their cultural and structural experiences. They usually travel through Europe to escape from deprivation or conflict, leaving their families, and suffering the absence of a primary caregiver (parents or others), both from a psycho-physical and a social point of view. They could be victims of exploitation of child labor, sexual abuse, or human trafficking. These risks highlight their need for protection, and point out the many obstacles that the children have to overcome during their migration paths. The aim of the qualitative analysis is to describe the above personal and social processes regarding separated children using empirically grounded statements, partially examining the theoretical and statistical issues that emerged in the previous chapters. From the reading of both European and Italian studies, and the analysis of Italian surveys, several critical questions stand out.

Abstract
From the reading of both European and Italian studies, and the analysis of Italian surveys, several critical questions stand out.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
