Corinzio romano. Studi sul teatro di Catania

The present project deals with a subject that has been not well covered before in the recent studies of architectural history, since it highlights most the morphological aspects than the geographical and historical ones, in a fashion similar to the 19-century surveys. The purpose of this work, carried out through reports (opp. dossiers opp. cards), is to follow the different expressions of the Corinthian order from its earliest Greek and Hellenistic manifestations to the Roman ones, proceeding with a relief of the greek-roman theater in Catania, a classic example of Roman monument. Through the anastilosis of found fragments, attributed to the second Corithian order of the stage, they are compared with existing and adequate reliefs of similar orders.

La tesi elaborata affronta un tema poco esplorato nell ambito degli attuali studi di storia dell architettura per un suo carattere in qualche modo ottocentesco che privilegia gli aspetti morfologici rispetto ai dati geografici e storici. Il compito della tesi è seguire, mediante la raccolta di schede, le espressioni dell ordine corinzio dalle sue prime manifestazioni greche ed ellenistiche per poi passare a quelle romane fino a giungere al rilievo di un esemplare monumento romano, il teatro greco-romano di Catania, che tramite l anastilosi di frammenti rinvenuti, ed attribuiti al secondo ordine corinzio della scena, vengono messi a confronto con ordini simili di cui esistono rilievi adeguati.
