the aim of my paper is to examine the fantastic and the metamorphoses in a tale from the Arabian Nights (The story of the Second Calendar). Taking advantage of Remo Ceserani's approach to "narrative modes", the main rhetorical-formal procedures and the thematic cores of the fantastic are analysed. Particular attention is also paid to metamorphosis and its meanings.
