The contemporary Western world is characterized by a social instability linked to global changes that have led to new mobility needs in the territory; sometimes it is an expression of vitality and economic progress, sometimes it is the result of mass migrations of populations in search of greater economic stability and above all social security. The emergency phenomenon must be framed in a wider and more articulate context in which we also have to consider the natural succession of natural disasters and exceptional events. The construction of temporary buildings can be a solution for multifunctional constructions, and emergency housing but it is also valid for housing refugees, exiles, migrants, nomads, homeless and even for temporary shelter for those who cannot live in their residence, employed during the conversion cycles and urban renewal as temporary housing, waiting for the existing buildings to be rebuilt or refurbished. Such constructions, despite their transitory character, now cannot circumvent the requirements related to sustainability (environmental, social and economic sustainability). For this reason the proposed study was carried out: in order to design a sustainable and multifunctional module for the transient building. This module is exclusively made up of natural materials and/or recycled pallets, insulating made of "mixed textiles" coming from the reuse of mattresses, tires, cardboard tubes, insulating panels of reeds, etc. The project of these modules was conducted in detail (including structural design and verification of fixed installations) and it foresees two different phases: a packaging step in the factory, pre-assembling the elements and integrating the plant equipment, and a mounting step on site. The technological solutions and the technical equipment have been selected to facilitate the self-construction of the units, reducing energy consumption and including renewable sources.
