Abstract
The destruction by terrorists of the World Trade Center in 2001, among other predictable consequences, badly damaged relations between Americans and immigrant communities which continue to look to Islam for their cultural identity. This paper uses Critical Discourse Analysis to explore reaction to the story that a mosque was to be built 'on' Ground Zero. It suggests that, though CDA is apparently a perfect methodology for analysing texts on such topics, in reality the subjectivity of the analyst remains a critical factor, and alternative readings are always possible.File in questo prodotto:
