In this paper, we examine the essential features of Rolando Quadri's legal realism; a method of studying law that is not new in the doctrinal landscape. In particular, it is shown that Quadri's theory of "social authority" represents the natural development of the concept of "institution" elaborated by Santi Romano in the early 20th century. Finally, the author focuses on the concept of "costituzione materiale" in the international legal system, according to the notion offered by Quadri, and demonstrates its relevance for constitutional law studies as well.

Abstract
In this paper, we examine the essential features of Rolando Quadri's legal realism; a method of studying law that is not new in the doctrinal landscape. In particular, it is shown that Quadri's theory of "social authority" represents the natural development of the concept of "institution" elaborated by Santi Romano in the early 20th century. Finally, the author focuses on the concept of "costituzione materiale" in the international legal system, according to the notion offered by Quadri, and demonstrates its relevance for constitutional law studies as well.File in questo prodotto:
