Based on literature data both environmental characteristics and the benthic flora of the lakes Faro and Ganzirri (Messina, Italy) are given. The floristic list is based on a critical nomenclatural and taxonomic revision of previous records from that area. It consists of 40 taxa at specific and infraspecific level belonging to Rhodophyta (18), Ochrophyta (5), Chlorophyta (14) and Angiosperms (3). Some comments on the significance of data are also given.
