In the context of foreign language teaching oriented towards multilingu‐ alism didactic and intercultural principles, this article will shed light on the possibilities of a language-sensitive handling of intercultural literary texts that are often characterised by an immanent or explicit multilingualism and complexity of cultural perspectives. Based on a literariness-oriented examination of excerpts from Nava Ebrahimiʼs novel Sechzehn Wörter the question will be explored in particular, to what extent dealing with linguistic ambiguity and hybridity can trigger linguistic and cultural reflexive activities and (critical) awareness processes and promote the development of intercultural and symbolic competences, which are inc‐ reasingly important not least in the context of a broader discourse on education.

Abstract
In the context of foreign language teaching oriented towards multilingu‐ alism didactic and intercultural principles, this article will shed light on the possibilities of a language-sensitive handling of intercultural literary texts that are often characterised by an immanent or explicit multilingualism and complexity of cultural perspectives. Based on a literariness-oriented examination of excerpts from Nava Ebrahimiʼs novel Sechzehn Wörter the question will be explored in particular, to what extent dealing with linguistic ambiguity and hybridity can trigger linguistic and cultural reflexive activities and (critical) awareness processes and promote the development of intercultural and symbolic competences, which are inc‐ reasingly important not least in the context of a broader discourse on education.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
