This chapter presents an ecolinguistic study examining the language and visual content in online travel and tourism blogs, specifically focusing on Mediterranean tourism. The research analyses travel blog posts in Italian and English, using the ecolinguistic framework proposed by Fill and Penz (2018) and Stibbe (2012, 2014 e 2015). Accompanying images shared by tourists and used in promotional materials are also scrutinized, enabling a comprehensive analysis of how lan-guage and imagery jointly shape representations of Mediterranean tourism (Salazar 2012). Comparative analysis reveals linguistic patterns that highlight differences between Anglophone and Italian discourses on environmental themes. The study also emphasizes the pivotal role of language in shaping perceptions of sustainability and responsible tourism practices. The research argues for an increased critical awareness of language usage in tourism discourse, emphasizing its profound influence on environmental attitudes and behaviours. Given the current global so-cio-economic context, the findings underscore the potential of ecolinguistics to foster height-ened environmental consciousness within tourism and advance responsible discourse in the field.

Abstract
Given the current global so-cio-economic context, the findings underscore the potential of ecolinguistics to foster height-ened environmental consciousness within tourism and advance responsible discourse in the field.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
