RIPOSTO: UN PORTO TRA L'ETNA E IL MARE

Riposto, as well as other urban centers in Sicily, has permanently lost the important role of maritime and commercial town, but the archaeological industry and its proper recovery can revisit the places of identity, art and memory. The dominant cultural element of the town continues to be the sea and the construction of the marina in the immediate future may be successful as a tool for economic and cultural development of the territory Jonic-Etna. To prevent the port structure becomes a reality in itself, divorced from its surroundings, it must take proper design methods, sometimes the connection of roads and railway between the port and its hinterland and the redevelopment of urban space in context of the territorial situation. The challenge today may be successful for Riposto and all the eastern territory of the volcano is our implementation of a cultural tourism that involves the insertion of the ancient fishing village and its hinterland in the network of large circuits of international tourism. Planning "enlightened" and forward by the experts of the area would finally lead to a sustainable exploitation of the area, not robbed of its greatest natural attractions, cultural and historical, but exalted and made attractive for future generations.

Riposto, così come altri centri urbani siciliani, ha perso definitivamente il ruolo di importante centro marittimo-commerciale, ma l’archeologia industriale ed il suo corretto recupero consente di rivisitare i luoghi dell’identità, dell’arte e della memoria. L’elemento culturale dominante della cittadina continua ad essere il mare e la realizzazione del porto turistico potrebbe nell’immediato futuro rivelarsi quale lo strumento vincente per la valorizzazione culturale ed economica del territorio ionico-etneo. Per evitare che la struttura portuale diventi una realtà a sé stante, avulsa dall’area che la circonda, occorre infatti adottare modalità progettuali corrette, volte al collegamento delle infrastrutture viarie e ferroviarie tra il porto ed il suo entroterra e alla riqualificazione dello spazio urbano nel contesto della situazione territoriale. La sfida che oggi potrebbe esser vincente per Riposto e tutto il territorio est del nostro vulcano è l’attuazione di un turismo culturale che preveda l’inserimento dell’antico borgo marinaro e del suo entroterra nella rete dei grandi circuiti del turismo internazionale. Una pianificazione “illuminata” e lungimirante da parte degli esperti del territorio porterebbe infine ad una valorizzazione sostenibile dell’area, non più depredata delle sue maggiori attrattive naturalistiche, culturali e storiche, ma esaltata e resa appetibile anche per le generazioni future.
