This paper deals with aspects concerning the history of music in Catania from the second half of the XVI century to the end of the XVII, according with the methodological perspective of the ‘so-called’ Urban Musicology. The author collects, interprets and reorganizes the sources, sometimes fragmentaries and incompletes, of musical life in modern age and reconstructs the main contexts of production and fruition of music in Catania
