The readings of Konrad Lorenz in structuring his concept of reality have been many and heterogeneous. Among them, a particular place deserves the reading of Nicolai Hartmann to whom Lorenz assigns a fundamental role for his theory of "layers of reality". The paper analyzes to what extent the Austrian ethologist has been influenced by Hartmann, particularly on the concept of "real being".

Abstract
