Abstract

Milk is the main food of the new born babies diet and of the greater part of the children, however it can be vehicle of xenobiotics which M1 aflatoxin (M1), product of the metabolism of B1 aflatoxin (B1) by polluted feeds, or to be contaminated during the paking for the passage for example of isopropyl-thioxanthone (ITX) from the ink used to print the Tetrapak covering from the external surface to that inner one. Of all micotoxins the B1 are considered most toxic and cancerogenous, it is bio-transformed by the hepatic microsomial cytochrome P450 in M1 which possesses a cancerogenous potential ten times more low regarding the origin molecule but has been classified like carcinogenic of class 2B. The children are mainly exposed to risk because are the greater consumers of milk and for the greater duration of the exposure. Scope of the study is to estimate the presence of M1 and ITX in milk destined to infance.Determination of M1 has been carried out through high performance liquid-chromatography with fluorescence detector after extraction with specific immunoaffinity columns. ITX has been identified through GC-MS, after extraction on solid phase.M1 has been found in some samples in acceptable concentration. ITX has been found in low concentrations. For M1 the European Community with Reg. CE 466/2001, following the principle of ALARA (as low as reasonable achievable), fixed limit of 0,05 μg/l for raw milk, thermally treated, destined to the production of foods made up by milk and 0.01 μg/l for foods made up by milk destined to infance, therefore is very important that the determination of the aforesaid aflatoxin enters to make part of the routinary controls mainly being that one in cause in milk contamination. ITX was found to so low concentrations that more to make fear for consumers health, being the consequence of operation without the respect of times previewed from the procedure, confirm the importance of a corrected quality management in the single operating procedures of the productive cycle, from the choice of raw material to the finished product.
