The intersections and mingling between the arts permeate European culture of the twentieth century in a challenge to the "crisis of great style". This process forces the limits of speakability and mimetic illusionism. The fascinating experiments resulted from this research attempt to bring out the inexpressible beyond the shortcomings of each artistic language, aiming at a semantic joint of languages and at a renewed conception of the work of art. This interdisciplinary study reconstructs this story within Germany in the beginning of the 20th century, through the investigation of significant experiences of interaction between word, image, music, color. It is rounded by the investigation of the new modern form of Gesamtkunstwerk considered as a innovative resolution of the crisis of languages.

Abstract
The intersections and mingling between the arts permeate European culture of the twentieth century in a challenge to the "crisis of great style". This process forces the limits of speakability and mimetic illusionism. The fascinating experiments resulted from this research attempt to bring out the inexpressible beyond the shortcomings of each artistic language, aiming at a semantic joint of languages and at a renewed conception of the work of art. This interdisciplinary study reconstructs this story within Germany in the beginning of the 20th century, through the investigation of significant experiences of interaction between word, image, music, color. It is rounded by the investigation of the new modern form of Gesamtkunstwerk considered as a innovative resolution of the crisis of languages.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
