The purpose of this chapter is firstly to propose the hypothesis that Euro-Mediterranean Politics has been characterised by the presence of a long list of policies connected with the AFSJ since its outset and, secondly, to use the analysis of the AFSJ contents within the Euro-Mediterranean politics framework with the aim of demonstrating that, since the 2004, EU approach towards Mediterranean politics has been transformed in its underlying rationale from the convergence of security with democracy and human right promotion policies, to the securitization of the nearest European surrounding areas
