As to the question of the status and protection of persons in the age of techno-science the position of Habermas comes forward, and in particular, his criticism of biotechnology, which stems from an ethical concern. The starting point is the question about the moral nature of human beings, and around the relationship between moral and physical nature. Individuals are free to treat and manipulate their own genetic features, but genetic data do not define and cannot define human freedom and autonomy. Does it make sense to speak of "good life" in the era of genetic improvement of human life and nature? For Habermas, the question is crucial and focuses on the connection between the natural destiny and the moral destiny of the human person.

Abstract
As to the question of the status and protection of persons in the age of techno-science the position of Habermas comes forward, and in particular, his criticism of biotechnology, which stems from an ethical concern. The starting point is the question about the moral nature of human beings, and around the relationship between moral and physical nature. Individuals are free to treat and manipulate their own genetic features, but genetic data do not define and cannot define human freedom and autonomy. Does it make sense to speak of "good life" in the era of genetic improvement of human life and nature? For Habermas, the question is crucial and focuses on the connection between the natural destiny and the moral destiny of the human person.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
