Among the constitutions issued by emperor Leo I, one of the most important and suggestive is certainly constituted by C. 2.7.14 of 469 AD, of which both the content and the purposes can be fully understood by reconnecting this provision to what was stated, as many as five centuries earlier, by Marcus Tullius Cicero.
