INTERBUS was developed by the german company Phoenix Contact and presented in 1987. INTERBUS has been designed as a fast sensor/actuator bus for transmitting process data in industrial environments and is standardized in the IEC-61158. It presents several peculiarities which are mainly related to the topology and to the protocol which provides fast, cyclic, and time-equidistant process data transmission, diagnostics to minimize downtime and easy operation and installation.
