This paper explores the neo-Bourbon phenomenon in Italy through the lens of Political Discourse Theory (PDT), focusing on the journal "L'Alfiere" as a key instrument in the construction of a collective political identity. It argues that neo-Bourbonism is not merely a nostalgic or revisionist movement but a complex discourse that redefines collective memory and identity in the context of contemporary political challenges. The analysis highlights how the journal articulates a narrative that positions the Bourbon kingdom as a golden age, contrasting it with the perceived failures of Italian unification. By employing a retroductive approach, the study examines the social, political, and phantasmatic logics that underpin the neo-Bourbon discourse, revealing its capacity to mobilize support and foster a sense of belonging among diverse groups. The findings suggest that the strength of neo-Bourbon discourse lies in its ability to articulate demands for recognition and justice, framing historical grievances as a basis for contemporary political action. The paper concludes with a call for further research to deepen the understanding of this phenomenon and its implications for Italian identity politics.
