The complexity of the urban image has two components, the identity and structure, which help the spectator to understand and grasp the meaning of what you are observing. Identity, understood as "the sense and awareness, as distinct from the others and continues over time", which identifies the spatial relationships between object and observer context. If Lynch for the true meaning of each place is its relationship with the livability of the place, with a living world, then places must vibrate own life to the memory of the past. The urban environment, to show their identity, must express the image of place, matter and time. The buildings of the past, depending on the state in which they are and the transformations that have been, may be recognizable and identifiable; these variables determine the complexity of the system of knowledge that can be deepened only with a systemic approach of relations between technical elements, transformations and identifying characteristics of the buildings. The study area is Marzamemi, a small fishing village from ancient history. The identifying characteristics of Marzamemi are strongly influenced by the events of the past, the technological differences that gave rise to changes and transformations, from the functional and distribution choices, but also social and economic conditions of different areas of the village. The structure of the buildings is expressed through immaterial characters, identity through immaterial characters. The heritage building of the past are complex systems, made of material and immaterial culture, of history, of daily life, of transformations. They are technologically articulated and show transformations and detectable stratifications. To capture its essence is necessary to identify the transformations through the characters that have been altered, modified, and hidden under layers and tampering.

Abstract
To capture its essence is necessary to identify the transformations through the characters that have been altered, modified, and hidden under layers and tampering.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
