This paper focuses on the use of the term delator in the works of some of the most significant Christian authors between the the 4th and 6th centuries, a period when, once the persecutions against Christians had ceased, this particular form of denunciation mainly affected individual prominent figures, although significant references to the vicissitudes suffered by the people of God were not excluded. In the sources analysed, there is a severe judgement against delation, considered as an unworthy practice that damages, with the propagation of false accusations, both simple believers and members of the high clergy.
