The global trend of electric energy production is analyzed with forecast to 2050. The current status of the floating photovoltaic (FPV) is discussed taking into account data up to 2018, short-term extrapolation to 2025, and the number of companies and countries involved in this sector. The growth rate for the main renewable energy sectors is analyzed, and on this basis, a naïve exponential forecast to 2030 is given. Corrections to this forecast are discussed and value for the FPV installed plant in 2025 is suggested.
