The review of both archaeological and textual evidence from Minoan Crete during the First and Second Palatial period (ca. 2000-1450 BC), seems to suggest that textile production was not organized according to a similar system to that of Mycenaean Crete, as emerges from the linear B archives. Minoan Palaces were more textile consumers than textile producers; the Mycenaeans, instead, developed this traditional Minoan craft into a truly state controlled industry.

Abstract
The review of both archaeological and textual evidence from Minoan Crete during the First and Second Palatial period (ca. 2000-1450 BC), seems to suggest that textile production was not organized according to a similar system to that of Mycenaean Crete, as emerges from the linear B archives. Minoan Palaces were more textile consumers than textile producers; the Mycenaeans, instead, developed this traditional Minoan craft into a truly state controlled industry.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
