Abstract

Reality is multiple, it is made up of particular entities and universal structures, it is composed of a variety of durations, it is interwoven with difference. This is also why empirical existence and ontological consistency are not superimposable. The des- ignation of res cannot remain limited to the physical-chemical reality but indicates more generally what is not nothing. Lee Smolin’s realistic epistemology modifies and corrects the idealistic interpretation of quantum physics (the so-called “Copenhagen interpretation”) and in this way also contributes to a fruitful dialogue with metaphys- ics. The paper tries to discuss Smolin’s perspectives starting from the centrality of time in being, time which is synonymous with reality.
