Translation of page 59 of the novel Arson (Jung und Jung, 2023) by the Austrian writer Laura Freudenthaler. The translation was prepared for the 16th Wendelin Schmidt-Dengler Reading (4 April 2025): each year, an Austrian writer is invited to give a reading in Vienna in memory of Prof. Wendelin Schmidt-Dengler. The guest reads from one of their works, and former recipients of the Werfel-Stipendium present excerpts from the work translated into their respective native languages.
