Influenze anselmiane nel XII secolo. Il caso della "Summa sententiarum" attribuita a Ottone da Lucca

The Summa sententiarum attributed to Odo of Lucca, composed probably in the years between 1138 and 1141, is an interesting example of the early influence of Anselm. Furthermore the author is well informed on contemporary philosophical debates andin particular on the results of the reflections of Abelard and Hugh of Saint Victor. Among the main themes discussed in the workone finds: the existence of God and creation; the Trinity and the governance of the world; omnipotence and the sacraments. Overall the author shows an intermediate position between tradition and innovation. The work is composed with a method that isappropriate for scholastic teaching (above all through the organization in questiones), although it shows clear Cistercian monasticinfluences and a high consideration for spiritual themes. Anselm’s influence seems particularly evident in the deduction of the natureof the Trinity (taken from the Monologion) and in the characterization of divine omnipotence (taken from the second book of the Cur Deus homo and the De potestate).

La Summa sententiarum attribuita a Ottone da Lucca, e risalente probabilmente agli anni fra il 1138 e il 1141, rappresenta un'interessantetestimonianza della prima influenza anselmiana. L’Autoreè inoltre ben informato sul dibattito filosofico a lui contemporaneo e in particolare sugli esiti delle riflessioni di Abelardo e di Ugo di San Vittore. Fra i principali temi discussi nell’opera, l’esistenzadi Dio e la creazione, la Trinità e il governo del mondo, l’onnipotenzae i sacramenti; in linea di massima l’Autore manifesta unaposizione intermedia fra tradizione e innovazione. L’opera è composta con metodo confacente all’insegnamento scolastico (anzituttoattraverso l’organizzazione in quaestiones), tuttavia mostrachiari influssi monastici cisterciensi e un’alta considerazione per i temi spirituali. L’influsso di Anselmo sembra particolarmenteevidente nella deduzione della natura della Trinità (ripresa dal Monologion) e nella caratterizzazione dell’onnipotenza divina(ripresa dal secondo libro del Cur Deus homo e dal De potestate)
