Roncesvalles, or El verdadero succeso de la famosa batalla de Roncesvalles con la muerte de los doze Pares de Francia, is a chivalric poem in octave rhyme written by Francisco Garrido de Villena in 1555. The aim of this paper is to analyse the description of the female figures represented in Merlin’s house. It is a prophetic ekphrasis that shows to Marfisa and Alberto the destiny of women who are gaining prominence in 16th century society. Through the study of the description, I will attempt to identify features and aspects of the female universe that will be the object of analysis.
