At the end of the seventh century BC the rich artistic production of the Cretan cities disappears, and the same island seems to begin a slow cultural and political decline. Based on the analysis of some specimens of sculptures dated at the end of the VII or during the following century, coming from sites hitherto marginals, it is assumed that a possible cause of the phenomenon, is the fail of the main centers of artistic production because of internal conflicts, and the migration of the artists toward other areas of the greek world.

Abstract
At the end of the seventh century BC the rich artistic production of the Cretan cities disappears, and the same island seems to begin a slow cultural and political decline. Based on the analysis of some specimens of sculptures dated at the end of the VII or during the following century, coming from sites hitherto marginals, it is assumed that a possible cause of the phenomenon, is the fail of the main centers of artistic production because of internal conflicts, and the migration of the artists toward other areas of the greek world.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
