We have studied an experimental system designed to measure the state of stress existing inside asymmetric gear wheels under load. Such experimental system consists of a test bench which constrains the two asymmetric gear wheels at the operating centre distance; a load is applied in order to simulate the cosntraint during operation. For this specific purpose, we have created two gear wheels using a material suitable for experimenting (Delrin). The material's thermoelastic characteristics were identified in advance through the construction and experiemntation of standard test pieces made of Delrin. Such experimental analysis will make it possible to compare, in afuture article, the stress range of asymmetric gear wheels with that of symmetric wheels.
