The essay proposes a reflection on the Christian reception of theclassical erotic literature and chooses Venantius Fortunatus (ca.530-ca.610) as anemblematic writer of the cultural context of that time (between Late Antiquity andMiddle Ages) and his poetry as an effective example of the process of Christianizationof the ancient heritage. By the reading of the poems addressed by Venantius to thequeen-nun Radegund (founder of the monastery of ‘Holy Cross’ in Poitiers) and to theabbess Agnes, the essential role of cultural mediator that Christianity has played in thewestern area is highlighted, as well as some aspects of its contribution to medievalEuropean literature.
Il saggio propone una riflessione sulla ricezione cristiana dellaletteratura classica erotica, scegliendo Venanzio Fortunato (530ca-610ca) come scrittoreemblematico del clima culturale dell’epoca (fra Tardoantichità e Medioevo) e i suoiversi come efficace esempio del processo di cristianizzazione del patrimonio antico.Attraverso la lettura delle poesie indirizzate da Venanzio alla regina-monaca Radegonda(fondatrice del monastero di ‘Santa Croce’ a Poitiers) e alla badessa Agnese si evidenziail fondamentale ruolo di mediatore culturale che il cristianesimo ha svolto in areaoccidentale e si segnalano alcuni aspetti del suo contributo alle letterature medievalieuropee.
