Abstract
Over the last four decades hip hop has grown to become one of the most popular cultural forms and practices across the globe. Rappers tell life stories through their music. This paper focuses on the imaginary of hip-hop and to begin to explore its possibilities about multiculturalism and integration. With this aim in mind, the article takes as its central focus the hip-hop artist Amir (an Italian-Egyptian rapper). Within the content of his rap lyrics in order to illuminate their meanings, observations and insights, mainly, it would seem, for an outsider audience. The distinctive use of hip-hop as a tool of expressing his status of being in-between their ethnic heritage and Italian culture. This will be examined through direct and indirect narrations (focus groups with students), and analysed on a comparative basis.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
