The paper aims at describing the main trends of current research in Syriac Magic using the materiality as a criterium, i.e. manuscripts are distinguished from bowls, ostraca and other writing supports. Centred on the activities of translation and comment, the research on Syriac Magic has provided useful data and precious insights to the field of Syriac studies in general, from grammar to lexicography, from medicine to folklore and beyond. Some case-studies will be addressed in order to give some samples of further developments this field of studies can yield for the coming years.
