In this contribution culturally relevant learning processes for the field “German as a foreign language” (DaF) will be investigated with regard to the higher learning goal of obtaining intercultural competence. The theoretical starting point is formed by the cognitive-constructivist and aesthetic reception approach applied in the research of text understanding as well as the methods used in cultural studies for text analysis. Against this background an empirical project will be presented in which the (text) understanding abilities of advanced DaF students should be fostered through the examination of trans-cultural literature texts by making explicit the communicative actions taken for granted as worldly background knowledge and thereby making the students more aware of these facts.

Abstract
In this contribution culturally relevant learning processes for the field “German as a foreign language” (DaF) will be investigated with regard to the higher learning goal of obtaining intercultural competence. The theoretical starting point is formed by the cognitive-constructivist and aesthetic reception approach applied in the research of text understanding as well as the methods used in cultural studies for text analysis. Against this background an empirical project will be presented in which the (text) understanding abilities of advanced DaF students should be fostered through the examination of trans-cultural literature texts by making explicit the communicative actions taken for granted as worldly background knowledge and thereby making the students more aware of these facts.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
