Δ 9-tetrahydrocannabinol is found in high concentrations in extrapyramidal and limbic structures. This suggests that these structures, also, are directly involved in the behavioral effects of Δ 9-THC. A study was made in rats of the effects in behavior of an extract of Cannabis sativa L., very rich in Δ 9-THC, with reference to the functions of the neurotransmitters in the extrapyramidal system.
