An analytical formula has been obtained for the semiclassical amplitude for transfer of a neutron in quasi-elastic reactions between heavy ions. It is used to calculate angular distributions in a simplified formalism derived from the distorted-wave Born approximation. Comparison is made with experiment for the reactions z0sPb('60, '50)209Pb and *'Mg("B, "B)"Mg.

Abstract
