Although strawberry cultivation represents only a small reality in the field of vegetable and fruit production, being includedin the category of the so-called niche products, its potentials deserve great interest at the production, commercial andindustrial levels. This scientific article is inspired by previous research and analyses the case of study of Maletto strawberry,which in 2013 was awarded the Municipal Designation of Origin status (DE.CO.), that is, a seal of quality certifying thespecific geographical origin of a certain product and embodies a concrete territorial marketing tool and a chance to restoreand place value on local identities.
