Cinema occupies an important place in Sciascia’s reflections on the visual media. In essays and novels, his ruminations on the tenth muse mingle with the theme of memory, frequently becoming a metaphor for it. While the writer recognized the big screen as having been an important part of his own education, he seems to see television as a sort of negative language whichbreeds falsehoods.
