This paper deals with heavy-duty combustion turbines running on synthesis gas implementing a dynamic mathematical model. The model can simulate engine behaviour in steady state and transient conditions. To test the model’s accuracy, a Siemens V94.2K gas turbine was studied running as the topper in an Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) complex. Then numerical results were compared with experimental data. The resulting analysis highlighted that the mathematical model is able to correctly simulate engine behaviour in different combustion turbine running conditions thus validating the mathematical model.

Abstract

This paper deals with heavy-duty combustion turbines running on synthesis gas implementing a dynamic mathematical model. The model can simulate engine behaviour in steady state and transient conditions. To test the model’s accuracy, a Siemens V94.2K gas turbine was studied running as the topper in an Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) complex. Then numerical results were compared with experimental data. The resulting analysis highlighted that the mathematical model is able to correctly simulate engine behaviour in different combustion turbine running conditions thus validating the mathematical model.
