The aim of this study was to translate the English version of the youth quality of life-research version (YQOL-R) instrument into Italian. A group of 50 patients affected by Tourette syndrome (TS) and 50 healthy controls were evaluated two times with YQOL-R. Moreover, a neuropsychological analysis was performed with evaluation scales and interviews that are able to measure the same properties as the YQOL-R. As a result, the Italian variant proved to be simple to understand, reliable, and valid for both patient groups. In conclusion, this instrument will prove useful for measuring the quality of life in patients with TS. It will also prove useful for monitoring health status and treatment outcomes. While the YQOL-R is not specific for children and adolescents with TS, it still captured the differences in quality of life between healthy controls and those with TS
