The category of the «lyric film» indicates a specific way of representing the act of writing, whereby the word becomes the image. This article seeks to highlight the particular rhetorical strategies by which Martone and Filomarino represent the literary experience of Leopardi and Pozzi. While Martone uses a dynamic process of audio visualization, that is, a specific mode of voice off, Filomarino instead creates some interesting images-of-words that enhance the value of Pozzi's poetry. In both cases we are presented with two works that confirm contemporary Italian cinema's involvement with a very experimental way of hybridization between verbal and visual signs.

Abstract
The category of the «lyric film» indicates a specific way of representing the act of writing, whereby the word becomes the image. This article seeks to highlight the particular rhetorical strategies by which Martone and Filomarino represent the literary experience of Leopardi and Pozzi. While Martone uses a dynamic process of audio visualization, that is, a specific mode of voice off, Filomarino instead creates some interesting images-of-words that enhance the value of Pozzi's poetry. In both cases we are presented with two works that confirm contemporary Italian cinema's involvement with a very experimental way of hybridization between verbal and visual signs.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
