The shock structure problem is investigated in the framework of the Israel theoryof irreversible thermodynamics in the ultrarelativistic limit. It is shown that aregular shock structure may exist only for low Mach numbers. Similarities anddifferences with the classical case studied by Anile and Majorana are discussed.
