Temperature variations induced in the cosmic microwave background by fluctuations in the cosmological metric are studied in the framework of perturbed Robertson-Walker models. Sachs and Wolfe's (1967) formulas are generalized to include the elliptic as well as the hyperbolic model. The case of density perturbations is discussed in detail, and an explicit formula is found for the corresponding temperature variations in a universe with an arbitrary density parameter.

Abstract
Temperature variations induced in the cosmic microwave background by fluctuations in the cosmological metric are studied in the framework of perturbed Robertson-Walker models. Sachs and Wolfe's (1967) formulas are generalized to include the elliptic as well as the hyperbolic model. The case of density perturbations is discussed in detail, and an explicit formula is found for the corresponding temperature variations in a universe with an arbitrary density parameter.File in questo prodotto:
