Lichens widely colonize both natural rock outcrops and the stone Cultural Heritage, on which they exert a rather strong deterioration impact. A new indexing approach (Index of Lichen Potential Deterioration Activity) was recently suggested to assess and quantify the adverse effects of lichens. In this study, the Index was applied to the cemetery of Linguaglossa (Catania, Sicily, Italy), where 43 taxa were listed.
