The Island of Pantelleria is a composite volcano located in the Sicily Channel. The composition of the rocks erupted, consistent with a continental extensional setting, range from pantellerite to trachyte with minor outcrops of alkalic basalts. Relative to a plinian event dated about 45ka, a large amount of ash-flow tuffs and pyroclastic fall related deposits has been erupted. These deposits, known as Green Tuff, cover nowadays about 50% of the island'surface and are characterized by severe rheomorphic deformation. The analysis of these rheomorphic structures shows that they are referable to both primary and secondary flow mechanisms.
