The rural architectural heritage and landscapes today are attributed new roles and importance, both in their historic and modern components. In the present work attention is focussed on the building facilities and landscapes of the agro-food industry. The Authors consider not only the functional aspects related to the productions they house and support but also their actual and potential use for tourism. From the architectural quality of agro-food facilities they greatly depend not only the intrinsic, functional and sensory qualities of the food products there processed but also the corporate image of the concern. The heritage of this last, on its turn, is a resource for the wider community; it contributes to the regional distinctiveness and can become part of complex heritage/territorial marketing strategies involving both private and public actors and helping regional development.
