The authors report a case of a ruptured splenic artery aneurysm. The case was diagnosed during emergency surgery for haemoperitoneum. Aetiopathogenetic and clinical findings are considered. Surgery is regarded as the logical conclusion of the diagnosis in order to avoid the much feared complication of rupture of the aneurysm, which still presents a high mortality rate.
