The photoluminescence(PL)ofsilver-decoratedzincoxide(ZnO/Ag)nanocolloidssynthesizedbypico- second laserablationinwaterwasstudied.ComparedtoZnO,asignificant enhancementofthebroad near-ultravioletPLluminescencepeakisobservedinthepresenceofAgnanoparticles(NPs),aswellas changes inthebroadmulti-componentvisibleemissionfeature.Thecomparativediscussionofthe chemical andstructuralanalysessuggeststhatthehighelectric field inproximityoftheAgNPsgivesrise to anenhancementoftheZnOexcitonoscillatorstrength.Opticalcouplingresultsintheincreaseof spontaneous emissionrateandinternalquantumefficiency oftheAg-decoratedZnOnanostructures.The presentedresultsarehelpfulforthedesignofinnovativeandhighlyperformingLEDdeviceswithspa- tially uniformoutput.
