Oxidation of alkynes, both terminal and internal, is performed by hydrogen peroxide in the presence of catalyticamounts of (cetylpyridinium)3PM1204(M = Mo(VI), W(VI)). A comparison with the analogous oxidation reactionscatalyzed by Na2MO4 reveals that PM120403- anions are more efficient catalysts than M042- in the oxidation ofterminal alkynes to carboxylic acids. The higher catalytic activity of peroxometalates allows the oxidation ofinternal alkynes by hydrogen peroxide, which does not occur with M042- salts.

Abstract
Oxidation of alkynes, both terminal and internal, is performed by hydrogen peroxide in the presence of catalyticamounts of (cetylpyridinium)3PM1204(M = Mo(VI), W(VI)). A comparison with the analogous oxidation reactionscatalyzed by Na2MO4 reveals that PM120403- anions are more efficient catalysts than M042- in the oxidation ofterminal alkynes to carboxylic acids. The higher catalytic activity of peroxometalates allows the oxidation ofinternal alkynes by hydrogen peroxide, which does not occur with M042- salts.File in questo prodotto:
